Thanks giving:  Devotees apply butter, kumkum powder, sandal on the chest and feet of the Lord. They offer vastras with Tusi and flower garlands with incense sticks. Light small lamps. Arrange nivedhanas and distribute it to devotees and also arrange feeding-Annadhana.

Singers : The hymns, sung by great 12 Vaishnavite saints, celebrated as Nalayira Divya Prabandam (4000 verses in praise of Lord Vishnu) elaborately speak of the glory of the Lord.

Temple History:  

Lord Sri Ranganatha of the temple appeared from the Milk Ocean.  Lord Brahmma was worshipping Him for a long time and appointed Sun to continue the pujas as per vedic rules.  Lord Sri Rama, belonging to the Surya (Sun) dynasty was worshipping the Lord then.  As a mark of His love and recognition of the services rendered to him by Vibishana during His war against Ravana to rescue Sita, Lord Rama gifted His Ranganatha to Vibishana.  While returning to Lanka after Sri Rama’s coronation in Ayodhya, Vibishana placed the idol on the ground for a break during the journey.  But Vibishana was shocked that he could not even move the idol when he tried then.  He was consoled by the king of the region Dharma Chola.  Lord Perumal also expressed His desire to stay on the banks of Cauvery and promised Vibishana that He would be in His reclining form facing Lanka in the south.  Darma Chola built the temple later.  As this temple went into the sands in the years that followed, this temple was built by Killi Valavan of the Chola dynasty, according to history

தல வரலாறு:

இத்தல ரங்கநாதர் திருப்பாற்கடலினின்று தோன்றியவர். இவரை பிரம்மா  நெடுங்காலமாக பூஜித்து வந்தார். ரங்கநாதருக்கு  நித்திய பூஜை செய்ய சூரியனை நியமித்தார். சூரிய குலத்தின் வழித்தோன்றலான ராமபிரான் அயோத்தியில் இந்த ரங்கநாதரை வழிபாடு செய்து வந்தார். ராவணன் சீதையை கடத்தி சென்ற போது, அவனிடமிருந்து சீதையை மீட்க விபீஷணன் உதவினான். ராமரின் முடிசூட்டு விழாவை காண வந்த விபீஷணனுக்கு, தான் பூஜித்து வந்த ரங்கநாதரை அளித்தார் ராமர். விபீஷணன் அதை இலங்கைக்கு எடுத்து செல்லும் வழியில் காவிரி ஆற்றங்கரையில் வைத்து ஓய்வெடுத்துவிட்டு திரும்ப எடுக்கும்போது தரையை விட்டு வரவில்லை. அதுகண்டு கலங்கிய விபீஷணனுக்கு அப்பகுதி மன்னன் தர்மவர்மன் ஆறுதல் கூறினான். ரங்கநாதரும் காவிரிக்கரையிலேயேதங்கியிருக்க வேண்டும் என்பதே தமது விருப்பம் என்றார். விபீஷணனைத் தேற்றும் பொருட்டு அவர், தாம் விபீஷணன் இருக்கும் தென்திசை இலங்கை நோக்கி பள்ளிகொண்டருள்வதாக உறுதியளித்தார். பின்னர் தர்மசோழனும் இவ்விடத்தில் கோயில் கட்டிவழிபட்டான். அக்கோயில் காலப்போக்கில் வெள்ளப்பெருக்கில் மண்ணில் மறைந்துபோக, தர்ம சோழ மரபில் வந்த கிள்ளி வளவன் இக்கோயிலை சிறப்புற அமைத்து வழிபட்டதாக வரலாறு கூறுகிறது.
